CA directs GMA to reinstate 51 employees

The Court of Appeals (CA) ordered the reinstatement of 51 former employees of GMA-7 fired for staging protests against the network in 2015.

In its decision, the appellate courts said those employees should have been granted regularization, and have the rights to be reinstated without revoking their seniority rights.

The CA also ordered GMA to give these fired employees their whole back wages, allowances, and all the benefits of a regular employee, that cover the period of their termination until reinstatement.

GMA-7 has not released any statements regarding the order of the CA.

The GMA employees who were terminated have filed illegal dismissal case against GMA Network when the TV network dismissed them for rallying to condemn the company’s non-regularization policy in 2015.
