Sen. Koko Pimentel tests positive with COVID-19

Senator Koko Pimentel has tested positive with Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on March 24, Tuesday.

According to the senator, he first experienced a fever on March 18 followed by bodyaches and sore throat. He took a swab test on Friday, March 20.

In a message, Sen. Pimentel has admitted that he started to self-quarantine on March 11 until March 20.

Sen. Pimentel claimed that he was informed by the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM) at 9PM and immediately left the hospital while his wife, Kathryna Pimentel, stayed.

“I would like to ask for your prayers, especially for my wife Kath, who is about to give birth in the next few days to our first baby girl, and with whom I cannot be at this very important point in our lives as parents.” The senator asks for prayers for their current situation.

Sen. Pimentel also thanked the health workers and medical personnel whom he called true heroes especially in time of the COVID-19 crisis.

“I want to express again my profound gratitude to our frontline medical workers throughout the country, who are putting their lives at risk on a daily basis to bring a halt to this pandemic. They are the true heroes in this fight. “
