PRRD appoints Sec. Galvez as Chief Implementer of National Policy vs COVID-19

President Rodrigo Duterte has officially appointed Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. as Chief Implementer of the National Policy against the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

As Chief Implementer, his main duty is to ensure the strict implementation of the guidelines and protocols issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has gladly accepted the appointment of Sec. Galvez as Chief Implementer, who will be their colleague along with Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año in executing the government’s fight against COVID-19.

In an interview, Sec. Galvez has stated that they are studying the conversion of several large facilities in Metro Manila such as the PICC in Pasay and the Ultra in Pasig into makeshift hospitals or quarantine areas as preparation for the COVID-19 mass testing.

Sec. Galvez said that they are currently communicating through video conferences and phone calls to ensure their continuous coordination for the betterment of the government’s strides against COVID-19. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
