Rapid Pass system launched, to be used starting April 6

After days of training and field testing, the IATF in coordination with Developers Connect (DevCon) has finally launched the Rapid Pass System which can be used at 56 checkpoints in Metro Manila starting Monday, April 6.

Rapid Pass is an online identification system that will use QR code technology to ease traffic flow in checkpoints.

“We have a total of 56 checkpoints sa (in) NCR…so yun ‘yung priority no (that is our priority)…One of the critical areas that are really needing this is the Marikina Marcos checkpoint…doon natin sinubukan yung (there, we are trying) high volume testing,” DCTx founder Winston Damarillo said.

Frontline workers or authorized personnel can register online at rapidpass.ph, and will receive a QR code in just a few hours via email once approved. The QR code can be printed and placed in the car to be scanned by a checkpoint personnel.

The Rapid Pass is not yet a requirement but it may eventually be considered as mandatory depending on the assessment. It will be valid for use until the government lifts the enhanced community quarantine.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is currently looking for ways to minimize person-to-person contact brought about by thermal scanning in checkpoints.
