The SWS survey shows a majority of Filipinos believe religion is ‘very important’

Filipinos who believe religion is “very important” in one’s life have increased according to the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

In the SWS’ data, 83 percent of Filipino adults believe religion is very important, 7 percent consider it somewhat important, 3 percent find it not very important, while 7 percent see it as not important at all.

Based on the survey, Catholics who answered “very important” have increased from 78 percent to 84 percent, while the number of other Christians has jumped from 68 percent to 78 percent. However, Muslims maintained the highest at 94 percent.

Some 1,200 Filipinos participated in the survey held on December 2019. – Report from Stephanie Sevillano
