21 arrested in Bulacan anti-illegal gambling ops

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police authorities arrested 21 individuals as part of anti-illegal gambling operations launched in Bulacan Tuesday.

Joint operatives of the San Ildefonso Municipality Police and Special Concerns Unit of Regional Intelligence Division 3 arrested Jocelyn Manabat, 37, and Jong Coloma, 33, both residents of Barangay San Juan, San Ildefonso, after they were caught collecting bets for an illegal numbers game known as “jueteng”. Confiscated from the duo were assorted gambling paraphernalia, one cellphone and PHP1,230 in cash bets.

In similar operations in San Miguel town, police arrested Marvin Villegas, 32, and Analyn Tecson, 36, also for collecting bets for “jueteng”. Confiscated from them were assorted gambling paraphernalia and PHP900 in cash bets.

Likewise arrested were Roland Gamboa, 61, owner of a gambling den, and 16 others for online cockfighting. Seized from them were gambling paraphernalia and PHP7,290 in bet money.

“We will continue to step up our illegal gambling drive as we vow to stop illegal gambling in the region,” Police Regional Office 3 Director Amador V. Corpus said. (PNA)
