Malacañang announces decision on regions after May 15

Malacañang has announced Tuesday the decision on the different areas in the Philippines after May 15 amid the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Laguna, Metro Manila, and Cebu City are high-risk areas and will be placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine where selected industries will be allowed to operate from May 16 to May 31.

Region 2, Region 3, Region 4A except for Laguna, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Region 7 except Cebu City, Region 9, Region 11, and Region 13 are moderate risk areas and will be placed under General Community Quarantine from May 16 to May 31.

Region 1, Region 4B, Region 5, Region 6, Region 8, Region 10, and BARMM are low-risk areas and will not be under GCQ or ECQ as long as minimum health standards are followed.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has stated that the decision of President Rodrigo Duterte was based on science and recommendation of other sectors. Provinces and cities may coordinate with the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to appeal for their area’s classification

Meanwhile, Secretary Roque has also announced that the IATF-EID has approved the additional 5 million families for the first tranche of the Social Amelioration Program. However, the second tranche will be given only to beneficiaries in areas under the second declaration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine due to the government’s limited budget.
