To further help the medical community combat the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak in the country, the Office of Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go facilitated the turnover of private donations to medical frontliners in Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Hospital (DJPRH) in General Santos City. These included doctors, nurses, attendants, guards, and hospital and Malasakit staff on May 15, Friday.
“Ang turnover ng mga donasyon na ito mula sa ating mga private donors ay nagpapakita lamang na buhay ang bayanihan at pakikipagtulungan ng Pilipino sa kapwa nating mga Pilipino,” Go said.
“Ito rin ay bilang pagkilala at pasasalamat sa mga frontliners na patuloy na nagsasakripisyo para malampasan natin ang krisis na dulot ng COVID-19,” he added.
The donations included sacks of rice, face masks and thermal scanners. The donations were endorsed to the management and staff of DJPRH through its department head, Gabriel Francis Glenville Gonzalez.
“Bilang isang Mindanawan, sinikap ko na makapag-abot ng tulong sa mga ospital at sa kanilang staff. Ang mga donasyon na ito ay mula sa mga kaibigan at kapwa nating Pilipino na idinaan sa aking opisina para matulungan pa ang mga Pilipino sa Mindanao,” the senator added.
The city government-run hospital is one of the institutions in General Santos City that is in full operation in COVID-19 patient care. It has been recently given a license to operate as a Level 1 COVID-19 facility by the Department of Health and Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.
DJPRH has a complete setup for the management of suspect and probable COVID-19 patients, especially those with mild to moderate symptoms. It is also already equipped to take in patients who have tested positive in COVID-19 tests. The hospital facility is also one of the government hospitals that houses a Malasakit Center. The country’s 22nd Malasakit Center was opened here by Go last February 4, 2019.
Go’s office continues to bridge private entities to help beneficiaries, especially to medical institutions amid COVID-19 outbreak in the country. His office has always been open to assist, making sure that these donations are immediately distributed to those who need it the most.
Go’s office has already facilitated several turnover of private donations in different hospitals in the country. Recently, these included the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City and Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City where they turned over assistance to frontliners and one unit of ventilator to each hospital.
“Malaki ang ating utang na loob sa patuloy na serbisyo na ibinibigay ng ating mga medical frontliners. Kaya naman patuloy rin ang ating pamimigay ng mga assistance at kagamitan sa kanila at sa mga ospital dito sa Mindanao. Malaking sakripisyo ang kanilang ibinibigay sa bayan para mailigtas ang buhay ng kapwa nating Pilipino,” Go said.
The senator also thanked private donors for their unwavering support and their willingness to give assistance to those in need.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng nagbayanihan at handang tumulong. Hindi na po importante kung saan nanggaling. Ang importante ay nakarating itong tulong sa mga nangangailangan,” he stressed.
