The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has released a memorandum circular on the penalties to be imposed on violators of the transportation guidelines under the General Community Quarantine.
Individuals who will violate the sanitary measures such as wearing face masks and gloves will be fined Php 2,000 to Php 10,000 and may be charged with reckless driving under the MC 2020-2185.
For Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs), the violation of the said measures may result to the impounding and revoking of certificate of public convenience on the third offense. PUVs without special permit to operate are considered as colorums.
In terms of social distancing, drivers may be fined Php 1,000 and may face an overloading violation if passengers are more than 50 percent. For vehicles with passengers less than 50 percent but do not follow social distancing, the driver will be charged with reckless driving and breach of franchise condition.
Meanwhile, individuals who are not Authorized Persons Outside of Residence but are found outside will be fined PhP 3,000 and charged with driving without a valid license.
