The Department of Health (DOH) has reported on Friday the lowest daily number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at 163 since May 9, bringing the tally to 13,597. The total recoveries has increased to 3,092 after 92 more patients have recovered while the death toll has reached 857 following the passing of 11 patients.
Latest data show there are 9,648 active cases.
Meanwhile, the number of healthcare workers who were infected by the virus has totaled to 2,336 as of May 21, 1,086 have recovered and 31 died.
The DOH also disclosed there are 97 confirmed COVID-19 cases among foreign nationals, including 32 Chinese, 13 Americans, five Japanese, four Taiwanese, four Indians, and 39 other nationalities.
The health department said the asymptomatic individuals are not contagious based on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) earlier statement that there is no sufficient evidence yet that COVID-19 spreads from asymptomatic individuals.
