Chinese President Xi Jinping told President Rodrigo Duterte in a telephone conversation that China will prioritize the Philippines once the vaccine it is formulating against COVID-19 is released in the market.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, both leaders tackled their countries’ development on the fight against COVID-19 and “their strategies to restart their respective economies.”
“Both tendered their commitment to work together in fighting COVID-19 as part of international efforts to contain the spread of the virus,” Secretary Roque shared.
“Both leaders also took the occasion to review Philippines-China relations emphasizing the friendship of the two countries and the significant increase in mutual cooperation in a wide range of areas,” Roque added.
The conversation between the two leaders took place on Thursday evening and lasted for 38 minutes.
