DOTr, MMDA start designating protected bike lane in EDSA

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have started to designate a protected bike lane on the right side of EDSA.

According to the MMDA, the width of the bike lane will not be less than 1.2 meters and it will be just as wide as a normal road, contrary to the original plan of an elevated bike lane. It will also be divided into two phases.

“One would be the interim and the other one would be the permanent. So I guess this will be the interim.” MMDA Traffic Chief Col. Bong Nebrija has stated.

The barriers to be used will come from Subic. They are still awaiting the result of the assessment on how to use the barriers. – Report from Mica Joson
