Lacson respects Carpio amid statement on ATB

Senator Panfilo Lacson stated he respects the statements of former Justice Antonio Carpio regarding the controversial Anti-Terrorism Bill.

“With all due respect to former Justice Antonio Carpio, who I continue to admire and respect, he is mistaken on several material points in his interpretation on the contents of the Anti-Terrorism Bill,” Lacson expained.

“I think he has made up his mind on his interpretation, so in the meantime I will leave it at that,” Lacson continued.

Carpio earlier mentioned in one of his statements that the bill is “very defective” which may be abused by some sectors.

Lacson said he will speak on June 24 “before the same MAP membership meeting” and we will have the chance to answer “point by point” the constitutional concerns raised on the proposed law.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Thursday assured he will share the content of the comments of the Department of Justice (DOJ) on the bill if he will be given clearance to do so.
