DTI investigates illegal use of PWD cards

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is investigating the alleged dishonest use of person’s with disability (PWD) identification cards after a family has gone viral in social media due to the illegal use of PWD discount cards.

DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez pointed out that the discount cards are only meant for legitimate PWDs and the dishonest use of the IDs is against the law.

Several restaurants have already filed a complaint with the department due to the frequent abuse of the PWD cards that provide a 20 percent discount under the Expanding the Benefits and Privileges of Persons with Disability Act.
