PNP assures deployment not affected by COVID-19

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Archie Gamboa guaranteed that their deployment will not be affected by the increasing number of police officers infected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Based on recent data, 1,089 police officers have tested positive for the virus.

According to PGen. Gamboa, most of the COVID-19 positive officers have contracted the virus while manning quarantine checkpoints. Only a small percentage of the whole police force are infected. This will not affect the PNP’s operations against COVID-19.

“Hindi mauubos ang pulis. Marami kami and then there’s always rotation. Dito sa Crame marami pang pulis dito. Kapag naubusan, we will deploy and we can afford to redeploy our PNP personnel. (We will not have a shortage of police. We are many and then there’s always rotation. There are a lot of police here in Camp Crame. If we run short, we will deploy and we can afford to redeploy our PNP personnel)“ – Report from Bea Bernardo
