More than 30 officials, staff involved in alleged PhilHealth anomalies – PACC

The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has submitted to the Office of the President (OP) the information gathered surrounding anomalies in PhilHealth.
Based on its initial report, more than 30 officials and workers of PhilHealth appear to be involved in the alleged anomalies.

“Basically ang issue riyan ay ‘yung kanilang IT program na binibili, ginastusan nila ng bilyon [but] inadequate or incompetent dahil wala po itong auditing mechanism or validating system ng kanilang claims. Kaya ang modus operandi po kasi riyan sa Philhealth para makapagnakaw ka ay ibo-blow up mo yung claims (The issue is their IT program which has been bought and funded with billions, but is inadequate or incompetent since it does not have an auditing mechanism or validating system for their claims. The PhilHealth’s modus operandi for corruption is to blow up claims),” PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica disclosed.

“Iniimbestigahan na po ‘yan sa PACC. Isasampa na po [ang mga reklamo] sa Ombudsman anytime soon. Kalalabas lang po namin sa meeting with PACC and another investigating body, the NBI, para i-solidify o buuin ang kaso para maging airtight para maisampa po sa Ombudsman (PACC is now investigating. Complaints will be filed before the Ombudsman anytime soon. We just came from the meeting with PACC and another investigating body, the NBI, to solidify it for filing before the Ombudsman),” Belgica added.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said President Rodrigo Duterte has also been monitoring the issue.

“So ang Presidente, ang sabi naman niya, nananatili ang kaniyang kumpiyansa kay General Morales, hanggang magkaroon ng ebidensya to prove otherwise (The President said his confidence in Gen. Morales remains until there is evidence to prove otherwise),” he stated. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
