300 new quarantine facilities to be completed by the end of August

300 new quarantine facilities are expected to be completed by the end of August that will greatly help the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Secretary Mark Villar has announced this with the Department of Public Works and Highways’ bid to strengthen the response to the needs of COVID-19 patients and boost hospital bed and ICU capacity in different hospitals in the country.

The DPWH is also establishing a new facility in Nayong Pilipino with a 500-bed capacity and with the help of a private company.

“So marami pa tayong plano para ma-improve po ang critical care utilization. At sa ating mga quarantine facilities, we will expect that by the end of this month magkakaroon po tayo ng—we’ll be completing about 300 facilities with the total of 12,200 bed capacity. For this month, mayroon po tayong ongoing na 95 facilities. It’s almost worth 3,000 additional bed capacity. (So we have plenty of plans to improve our critical care utilization. And in our quarantine facilities, we will expect that by the end of this month, we will be completing about 300 facilities with the total of 12,200 bed capacity.
