PNP to add more forces in Sulu after bombing incident

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Archie Gamboa has ordered reinforcement in Sulu following the twin bombing incidents last Monday.

Gamboa has directed PNP SAF Director PMGen. Clifton Empiso and PRO BARMM Director PBGen. Manuel Abu to initiate an augmentation force in the province.

Amid calls to relieve from duty the Jolo cops involved in the shooting incident last June, Gamboa said the PNP remains confident in its Jolo police personnel until criminal and administrative cases are filed against them.

Meanwhile, Senator Risa Hontiveros is seeking a thorough investigation on the motive behind the killing of four military personnel in Jolo, Sulu.

Hontiveros said there is possibly a connection between the killing of the soldiers who were then the intelligence officers about to apprehend two female suicide bombers.

Senator Ronald Dela Rosa said he refuses to think that there is a conspiracy between the Abu Sayyaf and members of the police force since the latter also wants to counter terrorism. He added that the police will only be demoralized with such allegations.
