DOH: No new strain of COVID-19

The Department of Health (DOH) has clarified that there is no new strain of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines infecting people aged 20 to 49 years old.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire explained that individuals within the said age range are now being infected by the virus since they are the ones who go out to work or do errands, and get exposed.

The health department reiterated that no one is immune to the virus.

Usec Vergeire dissuaded the public from spreading misinformation about the virus as this is irresponsible and dangerous. Sufficient evidence is needed before reaching conclusions and coming up with recommendations regarding COVID-19.
