P200M worth of shabu seized in Metro Manila

Authorities have seized an estimate of P200 million worth of suspected shabu in separate operations in Metro Manila.

The first buy-bust operation occurred in Parañaque City where 2 suspects, Suboh Abdul and Alvin Amiril, were arrested. The follow-up operation was in Taguig City where Ebrahim Dimakiling, the drug supplier connected to Abdul and Amiril, has been captured.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP) the suspects are possibly connected with the Golden Triangle Drug Syndicate. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) disclosed that the Golden Triangle is an international drug trafficking syndicate operating in Southeast Asia.

Most of the illegal drugs smuggled into the country are from the said group.

The PNP has stated that the contrabands may be sneaked in through shipside smuggling. The police admitted that the vast seas of the Philippines which the syndicates are taking advantage of is a big challenge.

Authorities are also currently tracing the connection between the suspects and the inmates of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
