Administrative case filed vs PNP chopper pilot in command in Laguna crash

An administrative case has been filed against the pilot in command of the Philippine National Police (PNP) helicopter that crashed in Laguna in March.

According to PNP Spokesperson Police Colonel Ysmael Yu, the PNP Internal Affairs has recommended charging Police Lieutenant Roel Zalatar due to loss of situational awareness and evaluation of surroundings that caused the accident.

The investigation revealed that the helicopter was air-worthy and no engine problems were detected.

Several officials of the PNP were aboard the said chopper including now retired PNP Chief Police General Archie Gamboa and Police Major General Jovic Ramos who passed away Tuesday after being in coma for several months due to severe injuries from the crash.
