A member of Communist Terrorist Group- National Most Wanted Person was successfully apprehended by the the joint personnel of Anti-Terrorism Task Group (ATTG) Regional Intelligence Division (RID); Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) NCRPO; Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) of NCRPO; and District Intelligence Unit (DID), Eastern Police District at about 1:38 PM of October 22, 2020 at No. 4226 along Mars St, Sitio Pinalad, Centennial 2, Brgy. Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.
PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS identified the accused as ESTEBAN SERGIO SALES aka “Waldo”, 59 years old, married, construction worker, member of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), EXECOM, Kilusang Larangang Guerilla (KLG 73), Bicol Region Party Committee (BRPC), member of KOMITE SEKSIYON SA PLATON (KSPN 1), KOMITE ON SECTION SA ISKWAD (KSSI 1), and a native of Brgy. San Roque, Sagñay, Camarines Sur.
The operation stemmed through surveillance and lateral coordination that resulted in the positive identification of Sales. He is a National MWP with Reward covered by DND-DILG Joint Orders on Reward amounting to PhP 700,000.00.
Probe reveals that joint personnel of RMFB Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Rapid Deployment Company – RDC1 and RDC2, RID NCRPO, together with DID, EPD served the warrant of arrest for the crime of Murder with criminal case no. 3530 issued by Presiding Judge LORE R. VALENCIA-BAGALACSA, RTC Br. 57, Libmanan, Camarines Sur issued on July 19, 2002 and malicious mischief with criminal case no. L-818 issued on January 09, 1995.
As a backgrounder, on September 3, 2000 at about 9: 00 AM at Sitio Intramuruz, Barangay Panaytayan, Municipality of Ragay, Camarines Sur, with deliberate intent to kill, with treachery, evident premeditation, taking advantage of superior strength willfully and feloniously assaulted, attacked and shot several times the victim identified as German Berunga a rebel returnee and a member of the Citizen Active Auxiliary (CAA) thereby causing the death of the said victim.
Accused is now temporarily detained at RSOG Custodial Facility pending return of the warrant of arrest to the issuing court.
