Almost 3,000 Chinese nationals have been ordered to leave the Philippines due to violations of the terms and conditions of their respective visas.
Data from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) show that more than 2,700 Chinese nationals who were granted visa upon arrival were deported due to their failure to comply with their scheduled departure date.
Authorities said that some of them had difficulty leaving the country due to flight cancellations brought about by restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Immigration guidelines state that foreigners with visa upon arrival cannot stay in the country for more than 30 days. More than half of the reported number of foreigners who were sent back to their respective countries have been blacklisted.
