The National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is preparing for the landfall of Typhoon “Rolly” in the Philippines.
The NDRRMC has conducted a pre-disaster risk assessment and warned that flooding is expected due to the rainfall caused by the past typhoons. The council reminds the local government units (LGUs) to do pre-emptive evacuation if needed to prevent evacuation in the middle of the typhoon’s onslaught. It also reiterates the observance of minimum health protocols in evacuation centers to avoid the spread of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to NDRRMC Spokesperson Mark Timbal, the Bicol regional disaster council will be advised to declare no fishing and no sailing in coastal areas to avoid more casualties caused by the typhoon.
Typhoon Rolly comes in the aftermath of Typhoon “Quinta” that left 22 casualties and P737 million worth of damages in infrastructures and crops.
