DSWD assures ready assistance

Amid the series of typhoons hitting the country, the Department of Social Welfare and Development assured that there are enough funds to aid Filipinos affected by natural disasters.

Secretary Rolando Bautista reported to President Rodrigo Duterte in last night’s meeting that DSWD is fully-equipped to respond to calamities.

“At present, the department has a standby fund which is also used as quick reaction fund amounting to PhP 226.1 million… Mr. President, nag-usap na po kami ni Sec. Avisado at nagpapasalamat po ako sa kaniya dahil sinabi po niya na ire-replenish po niya ang QRF ng DSWD (Mr. President, I have already spoken with Sec. Avisado and I thanked him for saying that the QRF of the DSWD will be replenished),” DSWD Sec. Rolando Bautista reported.

Aside from cash assistance, the DSWD has been distributing family food packs, bottles of water, and other assorted non-food items to families affected by the recent typhoons. – Report by Mela Lesmoras
