Duque denies involvement in newly-filed complaint on Dengvaxia vaccine

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III insisted that he has nothing to do with the Dengvaxia vaccine issue.

99 family members of those who died of severe dengue fever allegedly due to the Dengvaxia shots they received, filed four cases against Duque, former DOH Secretary Janette Garin, and 39 other officials. Public Attorney’s Office Chief Persida Acosta said that PAO will assist them.

Following the newly-filed charges against him and the former DOH officials, Sec. Duque pointed out that the complaints have no basis. He disclosed that these are similar with the complaint against him in 2018 which was junked by the Department of Justice.

“Dinismiss na po yan since March of 2019. Kung anuman ang kanilang bagong kasong isasampa, ganoon din ang aking sagot, na ito po ay nadismiss na. At wala pong batayan na ako po ay pilit isinasama sa mga sumusunod na mga kasong kanyang isinasampa kung saan-saan (That has already been dismissed since March of 2019. Whatever charges they are going to file, my answer will be the same, it has already been dismissed. And there is no basis for trying to include me in other complaints that they file everywhere.)”

He added that he respects the due process but he is confident that the case will be dismissed yet again. – Report from Mark Fetalco
