Palace, NTF: Nationwide lockdown on Dec. 23 to Jan. 3 is fake news

Malacañang warned the public to refrain from believing misinformation being circulated on social media concerning a nationwide lockdown this coming holiday season.

“Alamin ang totoo. Huwag maniwala at huwag po magkalat ng fake news lalo na ngayong panahon. Patuloy lang po tayo maging responsable sa sarili at sa pamilya (Seek the truth. Do not believe and spread fake news especially now. Let us continue to be responsible for ourselves and our families),” Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles advised.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF) Spokesperson Restituto Padilla said they will check on the “veracity of this possible fake news” and urged the public not to rely on information from unverified resources and to check it with “authorities or trusted organizations.”

“Let us not be instruments of fake news distribution and help our fellow kababayans (countrymen),” he added.

The advice of the officials came out on Sunday following the spread of unverified announcements on social media regarding a nationwide lockdown on December 23 to January 3. – PTV News
