Nearly 1K quarantine violators arrested in Cebu City

A total of 867 quarantine violators have been apprehended in Cebu City since February 1 following the implementation of the liquor ban and tight restrictions due to the threat of COVID-19.

Among the violators are 149 minors, majority of whom were caught playing in internet and computer shops.

The Cebu City Police disclosed that minors are only allowed to enter internet shops with their parents for educational purposes.

The average number of quarantine violators in the city per day is 120.

“We have observed from the start sa ating implementation sa liquor ban bumaba talaga [ang mga violators] sa mga public places, especially sa mga restaurant and bar (We have observed from the start of the liquor ban implementation that the decrease in the number of violators in public places, especially in restaurants and bars),” Cebu City Police Deputy Director for Operation LtCol. Wilbert Parilla said.

Although public drinking incidents declined, more violators were arrested in the inner parts of barangays due to drinking and non-compliance with minimum health standards. – Report from John Aroa/PTV Cebu
