The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) approved the relaxation of some mass gathering restrictions, including the capacity expansion of religious activities in areas under general community quarantine starting Feb. 15.
“Pinapayagan na sa mga lugar na nasa GCQ ang religious service na hanggang 50 percent ng seating capacity or venue capacity (Religious service with up to 50 percent seating or venue capacity is now allowed in GCQ areas),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced.
The permission was granted following the requests of religious sectors for a higher limit from the current 30 percent in GCQ areas.
The government also approved the resumption of and further increase in operations of driving schools; traditional cinemas and video and interactive-game arcades; libraries, archives, museums, and cultural centers; meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions; and limited social events.
The limited opening of tourist attractions such as parks, theme parks, natural sites, and historical landmarks was likewise allowed.
These are still subject to health protocols and implementing guidelines that will indicate operational capacity and oversight of appropriate regulatory agencies and local government units. – Report from Sweeden Velado-Ramirez
