PRRD calls for health protocol compliance as economy reopens

President Rodrigo Duterte has again urged the public in his latest speech to follow minimum health protocols as the government moves to further reopen the economy.

“I would like to remind the transportation sector and the travelling public to continuously observe public health and safety protocols, especially in the public transportation facilities,” he said in his speech in Dumaguete.

“We have yet to fully implement our national vaccination program. Prior to this, increased mobility must be done with utmost caution and responsibility,” he added.

Pres. Duterte said strict protocols cannot be imposed in the long run due to their impact on the economy. These have been causing people to go hungry. The public should not also be forced in terms of distancing, considering the population in urban areas.

“We have not been able to implement the family planning program… We are the second fastest sa increase in population. I really hope we can do something about this in the future,” he also pointed out.

The chief executive and his cabinet members were in Dumaguete on Thursday for the inauguration of the newly developed Dumaguete (Sibulan) Airport and the newly constructed Port Operations Building (POB) at the Port of Dumaguete. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
