Manila City gov’t offices implement 30% working capacity

Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso has ordered all city government departments, bureaus and offices to only allow 30% of their employees to physically report for work.

Domagoso made the announcement after an emergency meeting was held with Vice Mayor Maria Sheilah Honey Lacuna-Pangan and key officials of the city government to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the city.

According to the data of the Manila Health Department, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the City of Manila as of Sunday is at 1,549, with a running total of 28,451 recoveres and 824 deaths.

“Babalik tayo sa pagbabawas ng mga tao sa city hall para precautionary measure,” Domagoso said.

“Babalik tayo and I believe in you na kahit onti lang tayo, makakapag function tayo efficiently,” he added.

The 30% working working capacity will be implemented starting Monday, March 15, except for the following offices: Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Department of Public Services, Department of Public Service, Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, Manila Health Department, Manila Department of Social Welfare, and all district hospitals.

Domagoso likewise told Manila Police District Chief P/BGen Leo Francisco that all leaves, except medical leaves, are declared canceled to address the COVID-19 situation. The MPD SWAT team, meanwhile, will be delegated to maintain peace and order in the city.

The Mayor also tasked Bureau of Permits Director Levi Facundo to inspect the implementation of health protocols in businesses and prepare necassary communications.

He also instructed the Department of Engineering and Public Works to make sure that all quarantine facilities is “up and running.”

Domagoso further said that he will personally conduct a random inspection across all barangays in the city and would not hesitate to sack an official due negligence.All vehicles of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office will also be used to enforce health protocols and a one entry, one exit policy will be strictly implemented in all markets to contain the spread of COVID-19 among the public.
