Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana announced he tested positive for COVID-19 based on the result of his RT-PCR test today, April 6.

The official said he will be undergoing isolation in accordance with quarantine guidelines to prevent transmission of the virus. He added that those he had contact with were already informed and were advised to isolate and get tested.

“The Department of National Defense shall continue to operate with a skeleton workforce to ensure continuity of service, with the prescribed health protocols strictly enforced,” he assured.

“I would like to remind everyone that the threat of the virus is as real as ever, more so now due to the new variants. Let us all cooperate and abide by the prescribed health protocols to help in curbing the spread of COVID-19,” he stressed.

Sec. Lorenzana is among the select members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) whom President Rodrigo Duterte usually meets to discuss the current situation and the response of the government to the pandemic.
