COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in PH exceeds 2-M

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the Philippines has exceeded two million, Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary and National COVID-19 Vaccination Operations Center Chairperson Myrna Cabotaje said on May 4.

In a Laging Handa public briefing, she said that as of 6:00 p.m. on May 4, 2,065,235 vaccine doses have been administered, of which 1,744,649 are first doses and 320,586 are second doses.

More than 1 million doses were given to medical frontliners, 329,650 to senior citizens, and 293,312 to persons with comorbidity.

Cabotaje said the country received a total of 4,040,600 COVID-19 vaccines from different manufacturers. There are only 55,000 doses left in the DOH’s inventory.

Meanwhile, Cabotaje said 2,634 individuals from Parañaque, Manila, and Makati have been inoculated with their first dose of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V as of May 4. They will be given the second dose after 21 days.

“As of kahapon, wala pa namang naitatalang side effects [ang Sputnik V], although ang ine-expect nating side effects ay kagaya rin sa nararamdaman natin sa iba’t-ibang bakuna,” she added.
