‘Ayuda’ distribution 77% done in NCR+

The distribution of “ayuda” or aid from the national government continues and is 77% complete in the National Capital Region (NCR) and four of its neighboring provinces as of May 5.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año reported in the evening of May 5 that this is equivalent to P17,687,754,600 from the total allocation of P22,915,422,000.

At least 78% of the aid allocated to NCR has been distributed to target beneficiaries. Laguna is also 90% complete, Bulacan is at 76%, while Cavite and Rizal are both at 68%.

“Sisiguraduhin po namin na hanggang May 15 ay matanggap po ng ating mga kababayan ang lahat ng ayuda,” Año assured.

Twelve local government units (LGUs) were able to complete aid distribution even before the May 15 deadline: Tagaytay City and Amadeo in Cavite, Sta. Rosa, Alaminos, Biñan, Cabuyao, Famy, Magdalena, Nagcarlan, Pangil, Pila, and Rizal in Laguna.

Meanwhile, the distribution of aid continues in Baseco, Manila on Thursday (May 6).

According to the Manila Social Welfare Department, they are now completing the distribution to additional qualified beneficiaries, including those who appealed to the grievance and appeals committee.

“Ginamit na namin lahat ng platforms para ma-inform sila. Sabi nga namin pag nakita ‘yung pangalan, makipag-ugnayan agad sa opisina namin para ma-claim nila agad, kasi mahirap na abutan sila ng deadline, baka wala nang pag-asang makuha,” MDSW Baseco Satellite Office OIC Rio Pangan said.

The ayuda was handed out by the national government to qualified recipients in NCR Plus who were financially affected by the enhanced community quarantine imposed in late March to early mid-April this year. –Report from Patrick de Jesus/AG-jlo
