Second tranche of Sputnik V jabs arrives in PH

Fifteen thousand doses of component II Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, Pasay City on May 12 at 9:40 p.m.

The Department of Health (DOH) earlier explained that unlike other COVID-19 vaccines, Sputnik V, from the pharmaceutical firm Gamaleya Research Institute of Russia, has two different components in its first and second doses.

The vaccines were carried by Qatar Airways flight QR928, and will be transported to PharmaServ Express in Marikina City for temporary storage.

Sputnik V jabs have a -18ºC temperature requirement for storage and must be administered within two hours after being thawed.

This is the second tranche of Sputnik V doses. The first arrived from Russia on May 1.

The vaccines were initially distributed to five cities in Metro Manila that can handle the subzero storage requirement.

These cities are Manila, Taguig, Makati, Paranaque, and Muntinlupa. Each received 3,000 doses. – Report from Patrick De Jesus / CF-jlo
