V. Luna modular hospital 70% done

The modular hospital being constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at the Victoriano Luna Medical Center is now 70% complete.

The construction of the 22-room facility for severe and critical COVID-19 cases began on April 30 and is expected to be completed on June 15. Each room will have its own oxygen supply, negative pressure capacity, communication equipment, and comfort room.

The management of the hospital said this will help improve their capacity, especially now that its occupancy rate for severe and critical cases is around 80%.

“May mga long term chronic problems pa rin po ‘yung iba. This will really help us a lot. Kasi ‘yung mga bagong dadating na moderate to severe, lalo mga high risk na pwedeng maging critical, ma-a-accomodate na,” Col. Fatima Navarro, commanding officer of the hospital, said.

The DPWH said it is targeting to install 300 beds in Metro Manila hospitals next month. This includes Ospital ng Maynila, Pasig, Quezon Institute, Lung Center of the Philippines, and Las Piῆas Medical Center.

Meanwhile, the occupancy rate of quarantine facilities declined to 34% and the occupancy of modular hospitals went below critical level.
