Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar ordered on Tuesday, May 25, the district director of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) to start the legal process for the immediate dismissal of a police corporal who was arrested for robbing a branch of LBC courier service in San Miguel, Bulacan.
The errant cop was identified as Police Corporal Moises Yango, 29, assigned at the QCPD, and a resident of Barangay Sikatuna Village in Quezon City.
“I have already instructed the Director, QCPD to immediately start the process for the dismissal of this policeman from the service. I will personally monitor the progress of his administrative case and make sure na hindi na siya makakabalik sa serbisyo,” Eleazar said.
Based on the report of the Bulacan Provincial Police, an armed person entered the LBC Branch in Barangay Camias, San Miguel at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, and declared a holdup.
The suspect was wearing a black bonnet, orange helmet, and black long sleeves.
After taking the money, the suspect rode a black motorcycle with no license plate and sped off. The incident, however, was immediately reported to the local police and a flash alarm was sent to nearby police stations.
Joint elements of San Ildefonso Municipal Police Station (MPS), the lead unit; San Miguel MPS, and Cabanatuan City Police Station immediately conducted a pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect who was later identified as Yango based on the identification cards seized from him during the search.
Police also confiscated a hand grenade, a 9mm pistol, his PNP ID card, various identification cards, ATM cards, and the P5,000 loot taken from the LBC San Miguel Branch.
Yango is currently detained at the San Miguel MPS and will be charged with appropriate criminal and administrative charges.
“Based doon sa report, he is only 29 years old, so ibig sabihin ilang taon pa lang siya sa serbisyo,” Eleazar said.
“This is actually the wisdom behind the aggressive reform in the recruitment system through the QR Code System. Umpisa pa lang, salain na natin kung sino ang papasok para hindi na mabigyan ng lugar ang mga ganitong klaseng tao na makapasok sa PNP dahil sinisira lang nila ang aming organisasyon,” he added.
The PNP will start the recruitment of more than 17,000 policemen this year and Eleazar vowed that through the QR Code System, all the applicants would be selected on the basis of their qualifications.
“Walang pangalan, walang mukha at walang padrino. Through our QR Code System we will be assured that only the best police applicants would be given the opportunity to join the PNP,” Eleazar said. (PNP-PIO) -jlo
