Cebu closes jab sites due to lack of COVID-19 vax supply

The Cebu local government temporarily closed its vaccination sites on Monday (June 28) due to a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines for about 300,000 registered residents.

The Department of Health Region 7 (DOH-7) said that at least 700,000 individuals or 70% of its population must be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity in Cebu.

The local health office received a positive response from the public as it logged 300,000 online registrations for vaccination.

However, due to the limited number of vaccine doses deployed to Cebu City, the local government had to close its vaccination sites for the meantime.

The Cebu local government appealed to the national government to allow them to procure their own vaccines.

As of June 28, almost 120,000 Cebu residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. – Report from John Aroa / CF- jlo
