PRRD: ‘Consider me a candidate for the vice presidency at this time’

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said on Thursday (July 1) the public can “consider” him for the vice presidency to “maintain the equilibrium.”

In a statement, President Duterte said that maybe he will run for the said position to “maintain the equilibrium” and if there is a “space” for him.

“Maybe at this time, you can say that maybe to maintain the equilibrium sa lahat, consider me a candidate for the vice presidency at this time,” he said.

“Posturing ‘yan eh. Political posturing so that they would not treat you badly kasi paalis na ako eh.”

In relation to this, the Chief Executive again criticized Senator Manny Pacquiao. He asked the latter the reason behind his “late” allegation of corruption in several government agencies.

“He has been with the government for so long a time as a senator, my question to Pacquiao is, bakit ngayon ka lang nagsalita? Pero I expect him to sit in Congress, do not go anywhere, finish and find out the corruption that you are talking about.”

Duterte slammed Pacquiao saying that being a “champion in boxing does not mean to say that you are a champion in politics.”

“So he is blabbering his mouth, tapos na. I am waiting for his word for the next department that he would choose to investigate,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sen. Pacquiao clarified that he is not “attacking the President” rather, helping him in eradicating corruption.

“Hindi ko inaatake ang Pangulo. In fact, tinutulungan ko pa para sa pagsugpo ng corruption.”

“So isa-submit ko sa kanya yung mga partial na ebidensya. Marami pang talagang nagbibigay sa akin ng … humihingi ng tulong at yun naman ay nagpapasalamat ako na makakaabot ito sa Presidente yung mga ebidensya na yan,” he said.
