The local government of Marikina on Friday (July 2) vaccinated around 14,000 individuals, a huge improvement from its 9,000 average daily jabs administered.
The number recorded today could overwhelm vaccinators, but the local government assured that they are providing enough assistance to their inoculators.
John Emerson Kho, a vaccinator in the city, asked the public to understand and continue to trust the current vaccination program despite some incidents concerning vaccinators’ lapses.
Dr. Angelito llabres, chief implementer of Marikina COVID-19 response, said vaccination is very “tedious and labor intensive.”
“Dapat ‘yung mga nagpabakuna siguraduhing sila ay nabakunahan, tingnan. ‘Yun ang makakatulong ng malaki para masigurado natin na nabakunahan ang isang tao,” he said.
The Department of Health (DOH) reiterated that what happened in the vaccination drive in Makati and Mandaluyong were isolated cases of “human error.”
“We do not intend to penalize anybody. Nandiyan po tayo, ini-imbestigahan nating lahat ‘yan para mas maging mabuti ang ginagawa natin in the coming days,” DOH Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said.
“Now halimbawa kung ito ay intentional na ginawa, diyan po talaga we will penalize,” Vergeire added.
The DOH assured that local government units are hiring more vaccinators with the private sector’s help to ensure the success of the vaccine program. – Report from Patrick de Jesus/AG-rir
