Metro Manila LGUs limit jabs due to supplies issue

Some cities in Metro Manila were forced to limit the number of vaccines they administered on Wednesday (July 7) due to insufficient vaccine supplies in their respective local government units (LGUs).

In Pasay City, only those who are scheduled for their second dose were administered with COVID-19 vaccine as their supply for first dose vaccines were already distributed.

“May parating na pong [Sputnik V] at [AstraZeneca]. I think, on July 18 ay dadating din ang Sinovac… Marami talaga ang nabakunahan ng Sinovac [and] we are hoping na walang mangyaring reason na hindi makakarating ang bakuna sa ating bansa,” Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano said.

Likewise, Makati City temporarily stopped their vaccination rollout for first dose recipients. Even so, the Makati LGU reassured the second dose recipients that there is enough supply of COVID-19 jabs for them to complete their vaccination.

Cities of Valenzuela and Muntinlupa also share the same situation as they ran out of COVID-19 vaccine supplies.

During the Talk to the People on Tuesday (July 6), the vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. explained that the arrival of vaccines will be in the second to fourth week of the month.

”During the first day of the month, nagkakaroon po sila ng preparation for deployment,” Galvez said.

The vaccine czar also said that about 16 million COVID-19 vaccine doses are expected to arrive in the Philippines this month. – Report from Kenneth Paciente / CF – rir
