Japan gov’t AstraZeneca donation arriving tonight

A newly donated batch of COVID-19 vaccines consisting of 1,124,100 AstraZeneca doses from the Japanese government is expected to be delivered tonight (July 8).

National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. thanked the Japanese government earlier this week for the timely delivery of vaccines.

The Philippines received 2,556,000 donated AstraZeneca doses between March and May from the COVAX global facility, based on NTF data.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,028,000 doses of COVAX-donated AstraZeneca vaccines will arrive on Friday afternoon (July 9), to be followed by another batch of government-procured Sputnik V vaccines on Friday night, consisting of 50,000 of the first component and 82,200 of the second component.

Around 16.2 million doses from donations and private and government procurements will be handed to the Philippines this month. As of July 6, the country has 17,455,470 vaccines in its inventory, of which 15,344,900 have been deployed nationwide.

Government data show that 12,489,777 vaccines have been administered nationwide as of July 7, 2021. – Report from Kenneth Paciente/AG -jlo
