PNP set to help search for safer COVID-19 vaccination sites

By Pearl Gumapos

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has expressed its readiness to lend help in the search for safe and temporary vaccination centers following the current extreme weather conditions.

This was after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte directed the Department of the Interior and Local Government to come up with ideas on preventing people from waiting in line in the rain and in flooded areas to get their COVID-19 vaccine.

PNP Chief Police Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar has ordered police personnel to coordinate with local chief executives in determining the assistance needed in looking for safer vaccination sites.

“I have already directed all police commanders, especially in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, to coordinate with the LGUs and the local Office of Civil Defense officials to help identify and secure alternative vaccination sites in their respective areas of responsibility,” said Eleazar.

“Nasa panahon tayo ng mga bagyo at iba pang kalamidad kaya inaasahan natin ang mga insidente ng pagbaha at landslides sa mga susunod na buwan kaya dapat lang na paghandaan natin ito bilang tugon sa kautusan ng ating Pangulong Duterte,” he added.

Eleazar also said that the PNP is ready to convert some police camps into vaccination sites. -rir
