The Liveable Cities Challenge (LCC), in partnership with the League of Cities of the Philippines and Globe, is set to host another knowledge sharing discussion, this time on how cities can deal with rapid urbanization and its impact on communities by focusing on the role of green building and open spaces.

For its seventh webinar this year, LCC and Globe will present Liveable Cities Labs:  Green Buildings and Open Spaces on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. The discussion will touch on how cities can maximize the utilization of green buildings and available open spaces.

“Together with our esteemed webinar guests, we intend to explore different plans and solutions that may help Philippine cities deal with concerns such as rising population density, good connectivity, integrated transportation systems, and efficient public services, while maintaining and promoting green open spaces,” said Bill Luz, Chief Resilience Officer of the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation and moderator of the LCC, Globe Lab Webinar Series.

“We are optimistic that the upcoming webinar can give useful tips to city leaders and stakeholders on how finite resources such as land can be utilized in a more productive manner for buildings, mobility, and open spaces.”

Speakers will include: Paulo Alcazaren, environmental planner and landscape architect; Dinky Von Einsiedel, president of Alliance for Safe, Sustainable, and Resilient Environments; Mayor Jerry Trenas of Iloilo City; and Cathy Saldana, managing director & CEO of PDP Architects. The event will also feature Jean De Castro, chairperson of Urban Land Institute.

Any questions or inquiries regarding this event can be addressed to [email protected].

The 2021 Liveable Cities Labs is a continuing series of webinars to empower cities with knowledge and insights for designing better solutions for their communities.

This initiative is part of Globe’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG), specifically UN SDG No. 9 and No. 11, which emphasize the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development, as well as the importance of building sustainable cities and communities.
