Comelec OKs voter registration in MECQ areas starting Sept. 6

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) on Wednesday (Sept. 1) approved the resumption of voter registration in areas under modified enhanced quarantine (MECQ).

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez told reporters that the return of voter registration in MECQ will resume on Monday (Sept. 6). Comelec offices will be open from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The poll body also allowed the return of in-mall voter registration.

In the previous policy, only areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ were allowed to conduct voter registration.
