DAGUPAN CITY – Eleven members of the Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) are currently isolated after contracting the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a phone interview on Monday (Sept. 20), DCPS chief Lt. Col. Louise Benjie Tremor said the cops are now in various quarantine facilities in the local government units where they are residing.

Some are experiencing mild symptoms while others are asymptomatic.

“Police personnel are also considered as front-liners in this time of pandemic so we are very vulnerable to infection, especially those who are assigned in the field,” he said.

Tremor said other police personnel who had direct exposure to the patients, based on the assessment conducted by the city health office, are also quarantined.

However, he assured that the situation at the police station remains manageable.

“Nakakayanan naman ang sitwasyon at nakakapag-adjust naman kami kung ano ang mga dapat gawin (We are able to handle the situation at we are adjusting to the measures that should be taken),” he added.

Based on data, DCPS has recorded 72 Covid-19 infections since the pandemic began. The previous 61 cases all recovered.

Tremor urged the public to take the threat of Covid-19 seriously by adhering to the health and safety protocols.

As of Sunday, Dagupan City has 1,045 actives cases out of the total 4,048 confirmed infections.

A total of 2,877 have already recovered. (PNA) -bny
