BACOLOD CITY – Joint police operatives seized some P680,000 worth of suspected shabu from three suspects during a buy-bust in Barangay 31 on Sunday (Sept. 19) afternoon.

A report from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on Monday (Sept. 20) identified the arrested suspects as Rolly Moncillo Asumbre, 24, a high-value individual and resident of Barangay 14 in this city and Inocentes Villanueva Posadas, 43, of Barangay Cabanbanan, Himamaylan City.

The third suspect, Ericson Sungkip Abillana, 29, of Barangay 40, also in this city, evaded arrest.

The operation was carried out along Napoleon Street at around 3 p.m. by personnel of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) Special Operations Unit-Western Visayas (SOU-6) with the Drug Enforcement Team of BCPO Police Station 6.

Asumbre, the subject of the operation, sold P1,000 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman while on board a taxi cab driven by Posadas.

Operatives seized from the suspects 20 plastic sachets of shabu weighing about 100 grams estimated to be worth P680,000. as well as a .22 caliber unlicensed revolver with one live ammunition.

They also recovered a Toyota Vios taxi with plate number FAG 2416.

In a radio interview, Posadas said Asumbre hailed his vehicle and instructed him to proceed to the area, where the latter transacted with a buyer, but denied knowing about the illegal drug transaction.

According to a report of the SOU-6, the arrested suspects are now detained at their office while cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them.

“I commend the continuing efforts of the operatives as they relentlessly pursue the suspects who are continuously defying the orders of the law,” Brig. Gen. Remus Medina, director of PNP-DEG, said in a statement. (PNA) – bny
