SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan – The completion of the 1.3-kilometer lane access road leading to San Fabian Beach in this town is expected to increase tourist arrivals here once travel restrictions ease.

In a statement issued on Saturday (Sept. 25), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar commended Pangasinan 2nd District Engineer Edita L. Manuel for the swift construction of the access road project that now provides more convenient access to the famous tourism destination.

“Aside from tourism boost, the P37.5-million access road funded under the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA) is also providing better mobility for residents of San Fabian town that rely on aquaculture and fisheries for livelihood,” Villar said.

Beachgoers, bikers, and residents can now use the paved road built with patterned concrete with rubber stamps designed from “real stone”, lighting and stone masonry, he added.

“As the country tries to recover from the pandemic, this new infrastructure project in Pangasinan is targeted to provide an economic boost and improve opportunities for the whole province,” Villar said.

The project started in 2018 in Barangay Bolasi.

In an interview, Christian Daragar, a resident of the town, lauded the project.

“We can now ride our bike in the area or just walk while enjoying the view of the sea,” he said. (PNA) -bny
