Mimaropa logs minor damages following magnitude 5.7 quake

By Christine Fabro

Minor damages worth P15,000 were recorded by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Mimaropa following a magnitude 5.7 earthquake that jolted Occidental Mindoro early Monday (Sept. 27).

In a Laging Handa public briefing on Tuesday (Sept. 28), OCD Mimaropa Information Officer Georgina Opinion said that there were no casualties caused by the earthquake.

However, aftershocks are still being recorded in the area.

The Phivolcs said the tectonic quake struck 23 kilometers northeast of the municipality of Looc at around 1:12 a.m. and had a depth of 76 kilometers. -rir
