Christian unity needed to address social issues

Manila, Philippines— Christians in the Pacific Rim and Oceania are called to work together to effectively address major social problems common in these regions. For this purpose, the Pacific Christian Leadership Conference (PCLC) will convene an online Inaugural Convocation and Rally, Oct. 4 and 5, 2021.

PCLC is a coalition of Christian leaders and organizations who set aside denominational differences to work together to strengthen marriages and families, restore communities of goodness, and help Christianity fulfill its destiny as a beacon of freedom, faith, and family. The theme for the convocation and rally is “Stand Together – One Family Under God.”

The Chairman of PCLC is Masaichi Hori, 51, from Japan. He explained the vision of PCLC saying:

“Today, the world is in danger of climate change and environmental destruction. We are struggling to find sustainable solutions. At the same time, large-scale changes in our social values are creating tremendous uncertainty and confusion. Christianity has always brought salvation and hope to people in the face of persecution and crisis. For the sake of humankind, Christians should stand together to construct sustainable solutions based on spiritual values. This is the manifest destiny of the 21st century.”

Fifteen of the 20 nations in southeast Asia and Oceania have Christian populations of 65 percent or more. Jesus’ message is essential to address social problems such as teenage delinquency, fractured families, rampant drug abuse, widespread sexual infections including HIV/AIDS, and racial discrimination.

The convocation on Oct. 4th begins at 9:30 AM Manila time and will have three sessions entitled: i) “PCLC’s Founding Purpose and the Vision for a Heavenly Unified World”, ii) “Marriage in the Garden: The Role of the Family in Kingdom-Building,” and iii) “The Responsibility of Christian Youth in Building a Heavenly Community.”

The rally on Oct. 5th begins at the same time and will have a keynote address by the PCLC founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, from Korea. It will feature speakers from both the World Christian Leadership Conference and the American Clergy Leadership Conference.
